Total Eclipse of my h… the Sun. From: astronomy.com

Since things were beyond nutty in 2016, I’ve been trying to think about a few fun or at least soul-lifting or encouraging things on the horizon. Granted music, TV, & movies are the sort of thing that can be characterized as escapism, but I believe living in a constant state of terror still needs a great soundtrack.

  1. Music: The XX and Bell Biv Devoe have new albums this month. Nile Rodgers even announced a new Chic album! More music to get excited about over at Metacritic.
  2. TV: Veep returns to HBO in April. If you haven’t watched it you can catch up on Netflix, Amazon or HBO. Silicon Valley and a reboot of Twin Peaks and many more on the way.
  3. Movies: Star Wars VIII lands in December and Blade Runner 2049 looks compelling too. Vulture compiled a list of 58 highly anticipated films.
  4. Fighting the good fight: The ACLU defends our liberties in this brave new era. Consider a donation? Visit aclu.org. The Southern Poverty Law Center fights hate, teaches tolerance, seeks justice and more. Visit splcenter.org to find out more and donate. How about the climate? Visit 350.org to find out how to reduce CO2 omissions. Don’t count out Obama’s next move either. I’m still a big fan and will be keeping an eye out.
  5. Total Eclipse of the Sun: If we’re all still around to see it, look for that on August 21st in North America.
